Uh-oh, another project is creeping up on me....

I got a few new Japanese sewing books in the mail last week (I know, I'm trying to reduce my load of things, bear with me).

These books are for children's sewing so it doesn't count. Right? But I have to admit that there are a few ideas from these books that I'd like to try to translate into an adult version for myself.

In the summer I like to wear breezy tops. I know, there's a trend to more formfitting clothes, but I'm not on board with it. It gets freakishly hot here, and very humid. So belting something is out of the question. Plus then there's the whole issue of the muffin top I'm left with after my two darling children left my womb.

This top really speaks to me for some reason. It reminds me of a little Greek tunic my mom bought me on a trip to Greece when I was a kid. It was white with turquoise stitching down the front.

It also kind of reminds me of the pattern Rae posted last year during Spring Top Week.

I know, I'm not supposed to be adding to my list of things to do right now, but I might just sneak it in somehow. I think I'll need to make a muslin of the pattern prototype first, and then if I have the fit right then move on to the decorative stitching. After all, I'm fresh off the debacle that was the last Japanese sewing book pattern I tried. The one without a bust included in the pattern pieces?

This one sounds like fun, though. I need an intervention.

  1. It's called Clothing for Girls by Mayumi Katsuya. Here's a link on etsy - http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=44128262&ref=sr_gallery_16&&ga_search_query=japanese+skirt&ga_search_type=supplies&ga_page=&includes[]=tags&includes[]=title

But you know, I could also just share the love with you, S, if there's something you love?
